ZOLL Medical Corporation was co-founded in 1980 by Dr. Paul M. Zoll who was the first doctor to successfully use external defibrillation to regulate heart rhythms in patients. Through this discovery, the company went on to develop the first internal pace-maker, as well as a number of external defibrillation products. Since going public in 1992, the company has grown quickly and now offers a broad portfolio of products that include defibrillation and monitoring, circulation and CPR feedback, data management, therapeutic temperature management, and ventilation. Their products are used by lay-responders, first responders and in-hospitals to treat victims needing resuscitation and acute care. They are currently a subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Corporation.
