Product Focus: Philips HeartStart OnSite AED
Go to AED Superstore’s home page – what do you see? Today, there are fifteen different AEDs from six different manufacturers. All AEDs function in the same manner: turn the device on, follow the instructions to place the electrode pads on the patient, let the machine analyze the patient, and then deliver the shock, if needed. What could be more simple and why so many choices? What makes one AED different from another? This Product Focus blog series will help answer these questions.
You want an AED for your home or office environment. You would like it to be easy to use, small, lightweight, and able to help you through the entire rescue process. This describes the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED in a nutshell. Philips HeartStart defibrillators are the world’s most popular AEDs, and when you check out the available features, it’s easy to understand why.
The OnSite AED has a small profile (8.3 x 7.4 x 2.8 inches), and weighs just 3.3 lbs – making it one of the smallest and lightest AEDs on the market today. It is available without a prescription and it is incredibly easy to use. If you’re looking for a small, affordable AED with big features, then the OnSite is for you!
You can turn the OnSite on by pulling the electrode pad cartridge’s green handle. This activates the AED and starts the calm, firm voice prompts which guide you through the rescue process. If you need help with the resuscitation process, pushing the blue “i” button will activate the CPR coaching feature. The OnSite comes with one set of adult electrode pads and there are optional infant/child electrode pads available for rescues involving a patient under 8 years old or less than 55 lbs. The electrode pads use pictograms showing where to place each one.
The OnSite performs a daily, weekly, and monthly self-test which ensures the AED is completely equipped for a rescue. The self-test includes checks for electrode pad connectivity and moisture content, internal circuitry, and battery capacity. The battery comes with a four-year warranty.
The OnSite is one of the easiest AEDs to operate, but there is another feature which will help build confidence and familiarity. Available for purchase is the Training Electrode Pads Cartridge, which turns the OnSite into a training unit you can use to enact a rescue situation for yourself and others. If needed, you can also train for a pediatric rescue using the Pediatric Training Pads Cartridge – no need to purchase a separate training unit. However, if you plan on training often or training large groups, there is also a standalone trainer available.
All Philips AEDs operate using the Quick Shock feature which can deliver treatment in less than 10 seconds after cessation of CPR. This means there is less critical time wasted in the rescue process which improves the patient’s survival chances.
With all of those features and an eight-year warranty on the AED, the Philips HeartStart OnSite AED could be the one you need for your home, office, school, or other indoor environment. What are you waiting for? Get yours today at AED Superstore!

Is there a way to acquire (or purchase, for hopefully a nominal fee) a realistic AED trainer? Someone had a Philips HeartSmart trainer in a class I took, and it is much better than the plastic, very fake trainer I currently use when I teach.

Almost every AED has a trainer which looks and works like the real thing (without the shock, of course). We also carry a trainer which has been designed to resemble most AEDs in the field. The Prestan Professional AED Trainer has all the features you’ll need at an affordable price. Check it out here: https://www.aedsuperstore.com/prestan-professional-aed-trainer.html
