Our Scholarship Winner Puts Talents to Work

Catchy tune teaches the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest in children.

When it comes to raising awareness about any topic, the key is to “know your audience.” Our $1,000 scholarship winner, Sophia Klomparens, absolutely knows her audience and used her lovely talents to write, perform, record, and produce a video for a song which is catchy, fun to listen to, and fun to watch. Not only that, but she produced a “behind the scenes” video as well, showing us why she thought it was important to raise awareness of the topic she chose, and how she went about the process.

We asked her to tell us a little more about herself, and this was her reply:

Sophia is a rising senior at Hillsdale College, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Latin. When she’s not translating Virgil’s Aeneid or obsessing over Moby Dick, you’ll find her writing stories and poems, singing angsty music, and running through her neighborhood. After graduation, she wants to keep making beautiful things, because she believes that beauty will save the world.

Congratulations on your scholarship, Sophia! We are sure whatever future you pursue, you will find a way to bring beauty to the world. Good luck in your education and your future endeavors.

If you are interested in applying for our $1,000 scholarship award, the deadline to apply for the next round is November 31, 2020. You can get all the details here.
