Manitowish Waters Fire Company Gets Eight AEDs

Another Northwoods Community Implements a Public Access AED Program

Here at AED Superstore, we have an employee committee which reviews all AED donation requests, and they do their best to find ways to help out as many organizations as they can each year. Last summer, the Manitowish Waters Fire Company requested a donation for eight AEDs. The fire company needed a few for their first responders, and there were locations throughout the community which would benefit from having an AED available. The budget at the time did not allow us to do all eight, but we proposed matching their purchase up to four AEDs – if they purchased four, we would donate four to be disbursed in public locations.

Patti Rubo, donation committee chair, worked with Jessica Mabie from the fire company to get this matching donation implemented. The department purchased four AEDs and two cabinets and AED Superstore was happy to match the purchase.

On June 26, Patti traveled to The Town of Manitowish Waters to deliver the AEDs they purchased and bring them the four donated AEDs. The donated units are now strategically located throughout the town at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Manitowish Waters Community Presbyterian Church, the Manitowish Waters Community Building (which houses the Town Office and Library), and in Dietz’s Service Phillips 66 – a very busy gas station at the opposite end of town (whose owner is on the fire department). Due to the combined efforts of the Manitowish Waters Fire Company and AED Superstore, their town is completely covered and they have implemented a great public access AED program.
