A HEART FOR THEIR COMMUNITY

Meet our latest AED grant winner

AED Superstore is pleased to announce the winner of our second $2000 AED grant – Capital City Gospel/Rescue Mission in Albany, New York!

The following was provided to us by Sue Jones, Director of Development for Capital City:

Capital City Rescue Mission’s primary purpose is to meet the needs of the homeless and poor – body, mind, and spirit in the Capital Region. The goal of the Mission is to evoke permanent, positive change in the lives of people it serves, helping each one become a productive member of society, so our community is healthier and more vibrant.

The Mission was founded in 1949.  Today, with the support of generous donors, over 750 nutritious meals are served daily, and 240-250 individuals are sheltered nightly. The Mission’s clothing center offers clothing without charge (9,000 items weekly). The Mission is 100% privately supported by individuals, businesses, and organizations.

The Free Medical Clinic provides medical care to the uninsured – 2,386 patient visits in 2018.

The “New Life” Program for men & “New Faith” Program for women and children are year-long residential recovery programs accommodating 44 individuals.   Our Learning Center offers GED preparation, employment readiness, and assistance with job searches.

The Free Medical Clinic is the focus area of your donation.

Very few individuals have any medical insurance coverage when they come to us, though we do encourage those who may be eligible to apply for one of the Medicaid programs.   The walk-in nature of the Clinic enables it to provide services to many who would otherwise receive no medical care at all. This includes men, women, and children in the community with no insurance, homeless, and /or poor.

Your support for the purchase of the AED and supplies is a huge help.

Congratulations to Capital City Rescue Mission on receiving the grant. AED Superstore is proud to support the amazing work they do every day.

We are currently taking applications for our next grant. The deadline for that award is May 31, 2020. If your organization could use $2000 toward the purchase of an AED, we would love to hear from you! You can get started here.
