UK-based EasyJet Airlines has chosen the Defibtech Lifeline VIEW­ AED with the TSO battery configuration as the AED to be carried on board their aircraft and at their corporate offices. EasyJet is the United Kingdom’s largest airline by number of passengers carried. Ohio’s legislature has amended an act regulating the use of AEDs. The bill was signed into law last December and will go into effect on March 23rd, 2015. The act summary states “any person may perform automated external defibrillation (AED) and that training in AED and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is recommended but not required.” The amendment also provides “qualified immunity from civil liability to premises owners and other persons involved with automated external defibrillator placement and use.” Additionally the new law “modifies the standards that must be met by a person possessing a defibrillator by requiring that the person encourage …

  West Virginia has joined the growing list of states to enact a law making CPR training mandatory for high school graduation. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin signed the bill at a special ceremony in Charleston attended by American Heart Association staff and board members. The bill is called “CPR in Schools” and will facilitate a new generation of potential life savers. West Virginia is now the 21st state to effectuate a law making CPR training mandatory for high school graduating students. We need more states to follow suit.
